Solved! I'd refurbished that system for my friend and installed SP3 from a flash drive before installing MSE so her problem remained a problem but at least it's one that's fixed now. You could look for the latest drivers for your laptop from http://www.acersupport.com/notebook/. From my experience the BSOD has a tendancy of blaming drivers and software for a completely unrelated problem. More common in hot weather or when the computer heats up. Then rebooted and downloaded the latest Catalyst v9.11.
Thanks. Also, if you select to go in and change the order of preferred networks nothing appears in the preferred list even though it is connected to one of them.
