XP Pro Will Not Detect My Drives

Have you ever had to do any of the things here to fix an unrecognized external drive? Your explanations are clear and understandable. and also some say that sony tv recognizes only hard drive upto 500 gb and not 1 tb. There is a note appear that the flash drive is working properly but it can't open when i click on it.

My XP computer does retain dedicated drive letter assignments for USB devices that is repetitively mounted and dismounted. When I connected my 1TB external harddrive to my Windows 10 Laptop, I got a message saying "there was an error connecting to the USB device. Right-click on the drive in the list, and from the resulting menu select "Change Drive Letters and Paths…" Click on Change so we can change the drive letter. I love u all..
