When I click on associate file type, 2 Word programs come up (clearly one is 2000 and one is the as-yet-uninstalled 2010). Office 2000 meets my needs (when it works), but maybe it's time for an upgrade? I installed Microsoft Word 2000, but installed Microsoft Outlook 2010. (Don't ask me why, this is my preference).   4. It suggests to 1 Check permissions, and 2 Try the Open File option...neither helps.
