The task bar icon shows that it is connected with excellent signal, the IP address is valid (192.168.0.104) and the router shows the MAC address on the attached device list. The problem may not be related to your wireless network card per say, but on the hardware that your OS is running on. I thought it might have been something with Windows 8.1 but I have a laptop with 8.1 on it and never had a problem over the same network. Check your IP and DNS settings. Why? Method 1 did the job.

Resetting the TCP/IP stack did the trick for me. I have tried this on both of my browsers (chrome, and ie) and they both do the same thing. Thank you very much. James says: 7 years ago Thanks for the netsh suggestion!
