While the Convenience Rollup includes a large number of updates, there are many others that are not bundled with it and these additional updates can take quite some time to find and The combination of the the two updates recommended here, and the "Windows Update Diagnostic" finally allowed me to run the normal automatic Windows Update. I've searched & tried 20 different fixes & nothing has helped.

I can't reasonably promise the steps will work in every case, but I wanted to share my experience with getting Windows 7 to update correctly after having issues with it myself Alternatively, there are the other 13 methods that Microsoft provides to fix Windows Update issues mentioned in the last paragraph of the article.
