GET IT RIGHT!!!! I killed MobSync (it wasn't detecting my iPAQ at that point anyway), and thus was able to close WMP. Microsoft carefully reproduced this bug throughout at least 2 new versions of WMP. Not the answer you're looking for? it was fixed, it's out of my processes and completely shuts down when i close it now, and doesn't return after i restart my PC either.
