If you try to play a video that was made using a codec you do not have, Media Player will attempt to update itself but I have found that this does I don't see it in Programs & Features or in Windows Features. @skc7, try this. thanks, works great now. 11-23-2008 04:54 PMroon1991 Feedback ok tahts for windows media player how do you fix it on real player? 01-13-2009 01:01 AMasdffdsa Feedback RalphRost Thanks that fixed mine have a peek here

Find anything that starts with wmp or "Windows Media Player" and stop the service. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/windows-media-player-is-making-my-music-sound-odd/6dd63e8d-3116-4d3f-a491-1aa461bb04cc

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium and Media Player automatically opens on it's own, and when you close it, it will reopen with 10-15 seconds.
