All it took was a simple download of DiVX and I'm fixed. During the days AVI format comes into being, WMP supports all video codecs that can be used in AVI file. Thanks to your answer I just replaced 2.0 for 5.1 in the codec pack configuration and everything is going well right now. They are known to cause problems like this and conflict with each other.
