So Windows Live Messenger (WLM) is a default install on Windows 7. from my limited point of view, there seems to be a conflict with the webmessenger that is activated when you log into hotmail and the live messenger. Let's debug it. Yes I said reboot. The system returned: (22) Invalid argument The remote host or network may be down. as soon as we load up MSN messenger, within 10 seconds later it has completely disappeared and seems to have shut down.

My problem is that even if i have the "start messenger on computer startup" box ticked it still doesn't start when i log into windows. You can see here I am running a continuous ping to 184.108.40.206, which is on the internet, and it's responding fine. I did find, however, that by modifying the shortcut to always run as administrator, would solve the issue, I can load WLM, and no crashes.
