Still not quite sure why it "forgot" them after a routine Windows update although I could ping them via their IP addresses, etc. Hope it helps others who want to share between Windows 10 and Windows XP.
I am attempting to "see" shared folders on this machine, from a Win7 machine. I clicked on the event and at the bottom of the page added the IP address of the remote PC to the trusted list. Now you’ll see all of the computers on your network which should be part of the same Workgroup. It works well while you connect two PC's to work.
