Electronic Library Resources

The library provides a number of electronic databases to use for research. The databases give students access to hundreds of full-text journals and thousands of article abstracts from other journals covering a wide range of subjects. The databases are available to students both on and off campus. To use the databases from off campus all you need is your Immaculata University login and password. See the “Accessing Library Databases” section below for remote access instructions.

The library staff has also developed a series of Webographies in support of academic research. Webographies are lists of Internet resources that have been arranged by subject. They include everything from professional organization websites, online journals, maps, to sites established by the United State government and colleges and universities. They are good places to find current information, statistics, and hard to find information. Check them out.

If you would like to know more about Webographies or the types of databases on the Library Resource Website, please consult the Gabriele Library Student Resource CD or contact the Gabriele Library at 610-647-4400 ext. 3829

On the Database Page, there is a link on the right menu to descriptions of each of the databases. It is helpful to read these descriptions to determine which one applies to your research need. There is also a link to a “Subject Guide to Databases” on the right menu.

Receiving Articles by Email

The Interlibrary Loan Department will help current Immaculata University students find books and/or articles that are not in the library collection, not full-text in subscription databases, or not found in the electronic journal collection.  Most requests will take between 3-10 working days to fill.  Journal articles will be forwarded to your Immaculata e-mail address.  Materials such as books, microfilm/fiche, and articles we receive in hardcopy form will need to be picked up from the Inner Library Loan shelves at the reference desk.

The Journal Request and Book Request forms can be found online at http://library.immaculata.edu/ILL/index.html. For additional assistance, call the reference desk at 610-647-4400 x3829.
