About Assignments
The Assignments drop box allows your instructor
to create and distribute course assignments to students, then download
student submissions, evaluate, and assign a grade to the completed
work.
To upload their completed assignment files,
students must navigate through a series of screens. The following set
of instructions is written with the student in mind.
Getting Started
Students can use Assignments only after the
Assignment tool is posted to the course.
Usually, you will find Assignments linked on the homepage
and/or on the Course Menu.
- Find the Assignments icon from a Course
Page or Course Menu, click on Assignments. The Assignments
Screen will be presented.
View Assignment
Click the hyperlinked name of the assignment
you want to view (the link is underlined).
The Assignment Instruction screen will be presented.
- This screen displays the due date for the assignment,
instructions for the completion of the assignment, and its maximum grade.
- The Assignment Instruction screen also lists
assignment-related files, if available.
Compose Your Response
Compose your response according to the Assignment
Instructions. Use your own software applications (e.g., Microsoft
Word
or WordPerfect) to complete assignments. Be sure that your files are
virus-free.
Prepare to Submit Assignment
First you need to upload your document file from your
own computer to WebCT, then you will submit the file.
- To choose your file to upload, click Student files.
The “Upload Files For Assignments” screen will be presented.
- Click Upload. The “Upload File For Assignment”
screen will be presented.
- To locate the file, click Browse to open your local
computer's browser.
- Select the file by clicking on it. The “Upload
File For Assignments” screen reappears, with the name of the file
in the Filename text box.
- To upload the file, click Upload. The “Upload
Files For Assignments” screen reappears.
- Click the Return to Assignment hyperlink.
- The Assignment Instruction screen reappears.
Note:
Once you upload an assignment you may NOT resubmit the
assignment.
Submit Assignment
- Click “Submit Assignment.” The Submit
Assignment screen will be presented.
- A confirmation box appears asking you to confirm
the procedure.
- Click [OK]. The Assignments screen reappears,
with the message Not Graded appearing in the Status column.
View Your Grade
When the assignment has been graded, the Status
column message changes to a hyperlink that says "Graded" and
your grade appears in the Grade column.
View Assignment Results
Click the Status column hyperlink to view your instructor's comments
about your work.
Don't worry, this process is easier than it looks.
