In the Quiz section of your WebCT course you will find a list of quizzes that your instructor has created.

This list will tell you the name of the quiz, when it is available for you to take, how long you have to take the quiz, the grade you received on the quiz and how many attempts you have to take the quiz.

If your instructor has any special instructions for all of the tests or quizzes the instructions will appear at the top of this page.

Availability

When you see that a quiz is underlined it means that it is available for you to take.

Quiz Instructions

• When you click on the quiz you want to take, an instruction page will appear. These instructions are NOT from your instructor. They are reminders about how to take a quiz in WebCT.
  
• Read the instructions carefully! The first paragraph of the instructions will tell you whether or not you will get all the questions at once, or one at a time, and it will tell you whether or not you be able to revisit questions after you have answered them.
  
• Within that page there is a button that says, “Begin Quiz.”
  
• Click on this button to start your quiz.

Quiz Questions

• The next screen will show you the first quiz question.
  
• Depending on how your instructor set up the quiz, you will either see one quiz question at a time, or all of them at once.

  Note: at the bottom of each quiz question is a save answer button.
  

Saving your Answers

• The save answer button is very important! You must click on this button each time you answer a question.
  
• If your instructor has the quiz set to show only one question at a time, you will need to click on the “Next Question” button after you have saved your answer.
  
• If all the questions appeared at once (the next question button will not appear) you can scroll down the page to get to the next question. Remember to save your answer before you go on.
  
• If all the questions appear at once, you may go back and change an answer. Again.
  
• Don’t forget to save your answer after you have changed it.
  
  

Knowing Your Answer Has Been Saved

• In the upper right hand corner of the quiz area, you will see a box that, at the beginning of the quiz, has a red dot next to each question number. This is the question status area.
  
• Whenever you save an answer, the red dot will turn into a green star.
  
• This does not mean that the answer is correct or incorrect, it only means that the computer successfully saved your answer.
  
• After you have saved a question, be sure the red dot has turned into a green star before you go on to the next question.
  
• Failure to wait until the green star appears could result in your answer not being saved.
  

The Timer

• If your quiz is timed a timer will appear at the top of the question status area.

• If you are taking a timed quiz the timer will count down and refresh itself every time you save an answer.

• Once all the question numbers have green stars, and you are satisfied with your answers, you are finished with the test and are ready to submit it for grading.
  

Submitting the Quiz

• The final step in the process is to submit your quiz for grading.
  
• At the top and the bottom of the page you’ll find a finish button. When you are done with your quiz, click on either of the finish buttons.
  
• You must click on the finish button or your quiz responses will not be sent to your instructor.
  

Verification

• After you’ve clicked on the finish button the computer will ask you if you really want to submit the quiz for grading.
  
• Click the “OK” button to submit the quiz, click the “Cancel” button to go back to the quiz.

Seeing your Grade

• WebCT will automatically grade most types of tests and quizzes.
  
• To see how you did on the quiz click on the view results button.
  
• It is important that you click on this button even if you don’t want to see your grade because WebCT won’t grade your quiz until you click on the view results button.
