Technically, WebCT is referred to as a course management system. WebCT brings the dynamics of a classroom environment to the World Wide Web. It allows teachers and students to interact in a virtual classroom in much the same way as in a standard classroom. The difference is that it can be done from any place in the world, at any time and with the resources of the Internet as support. One of the strengths of web-enhanced and online courses is that they permit students with busy schedules an opportunity to learn in a more flexible way. Of course, it also changes how learning occurs. Online learning places a great deal more responsibility on the student. Online learning requires motivation, self-direction, and good time management skills.
