Interlibrary loan allows students to receive articles or books that are not available at Gabriele Library.  Once we receive your request, we will search thousands of libraries nationwide and get the materials for you as quickly as we can.  Most requests will take between 3-10 working days to fill.

To request an interlibrary loan item you will need to fill out an ILL request form.  There are two forms, one for books and another one for articles.  Paper forms are available at the reference desk in Gabriele Library.  You may also fill out a request on-line by selecting and completing one of the forms listed below.

Note: Before submitting an ILL request please check and be sure that Immaculata does not have the item you need.

Materials such as books, microfilm/fiche, and articles we receive in hardcopy form will need to be picked up from the ILL shelves at the reference desk. 

To receive your request in a timely and accurate manner, please follow these guidelines.

  • Your library account must be current and free of fines.  Call the circulation desk at 610-647-4400 X3839 to update your card.

  • Forms to request interlibrary materials are available at the reference desk or electronically on the library website under Interlibrary Loan

  • Fill out the request form accurately.  If you leave out important citation information it will probably delay the process.  Call the reference desk at 610-647-4400 X3829 for help.

  • Requests may be submitted as needed. However, we will process only up to 5 of your requests per day.

  • We will send articles to your Immaculata e-mail address ONLY.   We will NOT send materials to any other email address. 

  • Please check and be sure you can access your Immaculata email.  Your username is your first name and last name with no spaces (firstnamelastname).  Your default password is the last four numbers of you Social Security number.  If you cannot access your email call the help desk at 610-647-4400 ext. 1234.

  • You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the .pdf attachment.

  • You will need to keep your email box as empty as possible.  Articles average five to ten pages and are large attachments.

  • Books, especially those coming from out of state, may take ten days to arrive.  Please plan accordingly.

  • There is a $1.00 per day, per item fee for overdue ILL items, beginning 7 days after the due date.

  • If the material is unavailable, please speak to a librarian about your research strategy.  There may be other databases or resources that you have not yet explored that will help you in your research
