Task

Your job is to keep the band together by helping them find success. First, you'll need to locate a company to manufacture your recently recorded CD. Those graphic design courses you've been taking may pay off here, as you'll save money if you can find a company who'll work with you in providing your own CD artwork.

Your design is complete, you just need to get it into a format acceptable to the CD manufacturer. You have access to and some experience in using Adobe In Design and Adobe Illustrator.

You will also need to help the band book more gigs, create a presence, both in the community and online, and sell your CDs. This will include generating a list of potential venues, and creating some promotion tools, which will include a press kit and a web site.

You’ve got $2,500 left from Uncle Bob's donation, most of which should go toward the CD manufacturing. You also have $1,400 in the band fund. Although the band has agreed to donate half of their weekly gig income to the "band-aid" project, that will only be two hundred dollars a week coming in. Keep this budget in mind as you plan.

Although some CD replication companies offer financing, at this point your band has decided against that option. Printing and photography fees, or supplies, if you decide to produce you own press materials, will require some up-front expenditures as well, but you may choose start off with small quantities and replenish as needed.

Fortunately, all four of your band mates have agreed to help you with this project, if only they knew where to start…
