Welcome to an Exercise In Cooperation...
Food Cooperatives help to insure that all members have access to high quality produce and packaged goods at reasonable prices.  It's not a new idea.  As a matter of fact, and as you will learn, Cooperative Businesses have been around for quite some time in many different forms.

A food co-op opened in your neighborhood 1 year ago.  The landlord has just raised the rent and the Co-op must have 200 new members join before a three-month deadline.  The Co-op has enlisted your Civics Class to help them.  If you research, and plan, wisely you should be able to help them meet their goal.
Your mission:
To inform the community about the co-operative and the advantages for signing up.  In order to accomplish this, the class must break into 3 teams to design and place flyers that will be put up in substantially different parts of town.  You will need to do three things in order for this to be done right:

  1. Conduct research to learn what Cooperatives are
  2. Complete an "Audience Assessment" of the neighborhood your group gets
  3. Design a flyer which will apply to that audience
In return for your efforts, the cooperative will make you all members free of charge and sponsor a community bar-b-que in your honor.
