Presenting the Portfolio

Applying for a Job

When you apply for a job, include a statement in the cover letter of your job application referring to your portfolio. If the portfolio is web-based, then give the URL address. Add that you would be happy to share your portfolio during a personal interview. Do not just send your portfolio.

Preparing for an Interview

Take your digital presentation portfolio with you on interviews. Use a compatible medium such as a floppy disk, CD-ROM or jump drive because not all computers have Zip drives and some interviewers might lack Internet access.

All CDs should have a professionally designed label that contains: name and contact information, product name, and appropriate graphic or color scheme to match the jewel case cover. Include loading instructions, credits, and a listing of software used to develop the portfolio on the inside cover of the jewel case.

At the Interview

Take a few minutes to explain the purpose of the portfolio. Describe your process and rationale of assembling its contents. Be prepared to talk about some of the content and elaborate on its meaning. Practice your presentation ahead of time before an audience of your peers.

You've completed the Getting Started section of the tutorial and are on your way to creating your digital portfolio.
