So I would go to References > Insert Caption and then hit enter a few times at the beginning to center the caption in the middle of the page.

Once, on another machine, I had a simple little copy-paste plug-in that just appeared as a tiny palette on my desktop that would handle up to 10 or so copy and That was slick ..
