Industry Portfolio Project
Evaluation Guidelines
Portfolio Media & Design Elements
Following are guidelines that will be utilized to assess the use of media and design elements in the portfolio project.
- Typography: Titles, subheadings, and text should be displayed in sizes that reflect the content hierarchy. Avoid excessive scrolling in text blocks: use separate pages instead. Avoid using too many font styles because doing so increases file size and in turn increases download time.
- Images: All images should be appropriate to the content and have alternative text (ALT tags). Images should be displayed with appropriate sizing and resolution.
- Layout: The layout should follow a consistent pattern and reflect the purpose of the content.
- Hyperlinks: Both internal and external hyperlinks should be appropriate for the content and should function correctly.
- Navigation: The site should be easy to navigate so that information can be found easily. A navigation bar should be included.
- Content: Portfolio should clearly introduce the topic and grab the viewer right away. All copyright issues should be addressed appropriately. The page content should include information about who created the file and when it was last updated.Long text elements are kept at a minimum. Think about the ease of movement within the portfolio. Does the portfolio progress in a logical order?
Other Considerations
The information contained in the portfolio should fit the purpose and usefulness, and facts should fit a specific audience. If multiple audiences are proposed, the organization needs to reflect these various audiences. Here are some considerations to keep in mind when planning the portfolio:
- The purpose, goals, and audience should be clear.
- The information presented should be informative.
- The information should be as factual as possible and as entertaining as appropriate.
- Feedback should always be sought.
